The Department of Sociology began its journey in 2014–15 and has grown into one of the most preferred choices among undergraduate students. Every year, about 30–35% of first-year students opt for Sociology as their core discipline. The department focuses on developing a scientific understanding of society, critical thinking, and practical exposure. Students participate in seminars, debates, discussions, group study and field projects.

Faculty

The department currently has one full-time faculty member with academic expertise in sociological theories, research methodology, Indian society, development, social stratification, and social demography.

Student Strength

The department consistently attracts high enrolment due to the subject’s relevance in higher studies, competitive examinations, NGOs, research, social welfare, and development sectors.
