Located in the calm and beautiful surroundings of Koti village in Junga sub-tehsil, district Shimla, the college provides a natural environment that inspires learning and academic growth.
Economics is taught as one of the core subjects in the Arts stream, along with other disciplines such as English, Hindi, Political Science, Sociology, History, Mathematics, and Physical Education. The syllabus is based on the curriculum of Himachal Pradesh University and introduces students to areas like micro and macroeconomics, Indian economy, development issues, public finance, and international trade.
The department is presently led by Dr. Susheel Kumar Mehta, Assistant Professor of Economics. He is dedicated to making the subject interactive and relevant, guiding students to relate economic theories with day-to-day life. Students are also encouraged to think critically, take part in discussions, and prepare for higher studies or competitive examinations.
Apart from classroom teaching, the department motivates students to participate in academic activities, surveys, and awareness programmes organized within the college. The focus is not only on academics but also on developing an informed outlook towards the economy and society.
